About CalmlyHuman

Our Mission

CalmlyHuman exists for one simple reason: modern life makes it easy to lose your footing — as a parent, a partner, a professional, or simply a person trying to stay sane in a noisy world. We write about parenting, relationships, family psychology, Stoic philosophy, and everyday wellness to help readers build steadier, calmer, more intentional lives.

We're not here to sell you a 10-step hack to "fix" your family or your mind by Friday. We're here to translate real psychological research, timeless philosophy, and lived experience into guidance you can actually use.

What We Cover

  • Parenting — practical, evidence-informed approaches to raising children through every stage, without the guilt-tripping or perfectionism much of parenting content pushes
  • Relationships & Family Dynamics — communication, conflict, boundaries, and connection, grounded in established psychological frameworks
  • Stoicism & Applied Philosophy — how 2,000-year-old ideas from Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, and Epictetus hold up (and help) in modern life
  • Wellness & Mental Resilience — sustainable habits for emotional regulation, stress, and day-to-day mental clarity — not quick fixes or wellness fads

Our Editorial Approach

Every article on CalmlyHuman goes through the same process:

  1. Research first. We ground claims in established psychology, credible studies, or primary philosophical texts — not recycled blog content or unverified statistics.
  2. Practical over theoretical. Every piece aims to leave you with something you can actually do differently, not just something interesting to think about.
  3. Regular review. Articles are periodically revisited and updated as our understanding deepens or as sources change.
  4. Honesty about limits. We're a resource for reflection and practical guidance — not a substitute for licensed therapy, medical advice, or professional counseling. Where that line matters, we say so explicitly in the article.

Who's Behind CalmlyHuman

CalmlyHuman is written by Anil Kumar B, a software engineering manager and PMP-certified project leader by profession, and a father of two by the calling that actually inspired this site.

I didn't start CalmlyHuman as a credentialed psychologist or philosopher — I started it as someone managing engineering teams by day and trying to stay patient, present, and sane at home by night. Years of leading people professionally taught me a lot about communication, conflict, and keeping a level head under pressure. Raising two kids taught me how little of that translates automatically to family life — and how much I still had to learn.

That gap is exactly what this site is about. Every article here comes out of the same process I use at work when I don't know something: read the actual research, talk to people who've been through it, test what holds up in real life, and write down only what survives contact with reality. I lean heavily on Stoic philosophy — Marcus Aurelius and Seneca have, unexpectedly, made me a better manager and a better parent — alongside established psychology research, rather than my own opinions dressed up as expertise.

I'm not a therapist and I don't pretend to be one. Where a topic needs professional or clinical guidance, I say so directly and point you toward it. What I can offer is the perspective of someone actually living these questions — managing people, raising kids, and trying to apply 2,000-year-old ideas to a very modern set of problems — and the discipline, from my day job, of not publishing anything I haven't verified.

Our Values

  • No fear-mongering. We don't dramatize parenting or relationship struggles for clicks.
  • No fake urgency. We don't manufacture problems to sell solutions.
  • No borrowed authority. If we cite a study or a stat, we link to the source. If we can't verify something, we don't publish it.
